Croak Along to the Froglife Song!

The Froglife team were very excited to hear that a song has been written in their honour. Zamba, a reggae carnival band, got in touch to say they had read about our work supporting Toads on Roads near their base in North Devon and were inspired to write a song. Zamba plays a mix of Reggae, Carnival and Ska style music. Formed in 2000, the CD featuring the Froglife track is their first all original EP.

“We read an article in our local paper about frogs and toads and how we should protect and look out for them,” explains Zamba lyricist and singer Della Dunckley. “Most people don’t give a lot of thought to frogs, but after recording a percussion instrument shaped like a frog that made a great froglike sound, I penned the lyrics all about this topic!”

The upbeat and bouncy Froglife song is available with other tracks for 0.79p each via http://www.itunes.com/ through typing ‘zamba’ into the search box, or £3.95 for the whole EP. It is also for available for those who don’t use iTunes for downloads at www.cdbaby.com/cd/zamba priced at $1.60 per track (0.99p approx) and $8.00 (£4.99 approx) per album.

A proportion of the sale of the Froglife song will be going to support our Tuppence a Toad campaign. You can leave a review of the song on the sites too!

The Froglife folk felt this was a great example of how nature and animals can inspire creativity, and hope that the band’s efforts will then go on to inspire others to keep an eye out for frogs and toads.

“Frogs are a magical and important part of the countryside,” adds Della. “Growing up in Devon we have always had frogs in our pond and loved seeing the tadpoles growing and transforming into adults! At night they can be heard croaking to each other. If you look carefully, when the moon is out, their eyes can be seen peering through the dark as they hop about on the country lanes!”
